Wrongful Death Lawsuit Update: Mother’s Suit Blames Daughter’s Suicide on Social Media Addiction The mother of a girl who committed suicide at age 11 is suing Meta Platforms Inc., parent company of Snapchat and Instagram, contending that her daughter’s addiction to the social media apps led to her death. The wrongful death suit filed by Tammy Rodriguez blames the company for creating an “attractive nuisance to young children” without creating effective safeguards from the harmful effects of social medit to which it knowingly subjected young users. The lawsuit alleges the company of negligence, product defect and violations of California’s consumer protection laws.
