UPDATE: Deaf Man Injured by Austin Police During 2020 Protest Files Suit A lawsuit alleges that an Austin police officer fired multiple non-lethal rounds at a deaf man during a protest in May 2020 without giving him a proper warning. The man has filed suit against the City of Austin over the incident that occurred near APD headquarters on May 31, 2020. As alleged in the complaint, the plaintiff was injured by a non-lethal round and was shot 10 more times after he collapsed on the ground.
