INSURANCE UPDATE: GEICO Must Pay $2.7M to Injured Bicyclist After Refusing $30K Settlement The Georgia Supreme Court has ruled that GEICO must pay $2.7 million after it refused to settle a bodily injury claim. The case involves in bicyclist who was injured when she was struck by a driver in February 2012. GEICO, the insurer of the driver who struck the plaintiff, refused to settle the claim for $30,000. Following the high court’s ruling, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals is expected to order GEICO to pay the jury award in favor of the plaintiff.
