Business Litigation Update: Zillow Must Pay Photography Company $1.9M in Copyright Case A federal judge in Seattle has ordered the online real estate listings service Zillow Group Inc. to pay a photography company $1.9 million in a copyright infringement lawsuit. Zillow had included images from Illinois photography company VHT on the Zillow Digs portion of its website, incorrectly believing they were licensed for use. Although VHT had sent a cease-and-desist letter on July 10, 2014, Zillow continued to post VHT’s photos, and U.S. District Judge James Robart found Zillow liable for damages for the 2,312 images it used after that date. VHT had been awarded $8.3 million in the case in 2017, but an appeals court reversed part of that verdict, sending the matter back to the lower court. ~ Heidi Groover, The Seattle Times 1/27/2022 FULL ARTICLE: https://ift.tt/3KWdokj #COPYRIGHT & #INTELLECTUALPROPERTY Call #TheSterlingFirm To Speak With A #Lawyer 🏛⚖️🧑⚖️ We Have Team Members Available 24/7!💯👍 #lawfirm * ⠀ 🌐 www.thesterlingfirm.com⠀ 📧 [email protected]⠀ 📲 +1(310)498-2750⠀ *⠀ #lawyer #law #copyrightlawyer #trademarklawyer #businesslawyer #attorney #justinsterling #justinsterlinglawyer
